The Strymon Fairfax isn't your typical drive pedal — it's a complete miniature amplifier in 100% analog form. The debut release from Strymon's all-analog Series A line.
Inside, Strymon's engineers recreated every element of a tube amp circuit — a high-impedance JFET preamp stage, a Class A power amp, and a proprietary circuit that emulates the saturation behaviour of an output transformer. An internal power supply converts standard 9VDC to 40V, giving the Fairfax extraordinary headroom and a genuinely amp-like feel under your fingers.
At low gain settings it's a warm, glassy boost that enhances and sweetens your core tone without colouring it. Push the Drive and it breathes fire — thick, harmonically rich saturation that stacks beautifully with other drives. The variable Sag control adds organic, dynamic artifacts ranging from subtle compression to wild, gated-fuzz chaos. A Bright switch tailors the treble response to suit any amp or modeller.
